Dear Friends,
It is hard to believe that we are already at the beginning of February. Unfortunately, the groundhog saw his shadow which means 6 more weeks of winter, and, with icy cold temperatures settled across our area, I hope you were able to find some cozy reads at the Friends of the Library Center and Bookshop clearance sale last month. We sold more than 1,600 items to make room for new stock and brought in nearly $2,400 to support our library! Last fall, we made some changes to the Bookshop, and we appreciate your support and patience as we continue to balance our used book store with providing our members a special shopping experience during book sale preview nights, all while focusing on raising as much money as possible for the library.
If you missed our clearance sale, you have plenty more opportunities to shop with the Friends. We hold monthly book sales at library branches and will celebrate April’s Membership Month with a preview sale on Friday, April 10. Check below for a list of all 2026 sales at the Friends Center and Bookshop.
And, speaking of reading, make sure you’ve signed up for Central Rappahannock Regional Library’s Adult Winter Reading Challenge. Read and log 5 books between January 1 and March 31 to complete the challenge and earn a cool zippered pouch. You can also enter weekly giveaways each Friday during Winter Reading through the library’s Book Chat Facebook group.
As always, thank you for your continued support of the Friends!
Salem Waters, Friends of the Library President
