Dear Friends,
I hope everyone had a wonderful fall and enjoyable Thanksgiving. Leading up to the holiday, we once again held a very successful Friday Before Thanksgiving sale at the Friends of the Library Center and Bookshop. If you didn’t get the chance to shop that sale, don’t worry–there are several library branch sales going on right now! In this season of gifts and giving, I want to remind you that the bookshop and the monthly branch book sales are great places to do your holiday shopping. Not only are you checking off your gift list for friends and family, but you are also giving a gift to your library by supporting the Friends! A Friends of the Library membership also makes a great gift, especially for that person you know who has everything and is hard to shop for.
Speaking of memberships, we’ve made it even easier to join the Friends or make an end-of-year donation. We are no longer using PayPal as the credit card payment option. Instead, we accept credit card payments for memberships and donations right on our website! Many of you expressed the difficulty in using PayPal, and we agree–using a third-party vendor has been a challenge. Our goal is to make joining, renewing, and donating an easy process for all of our members and members-to-be. If you prefer to pay by check or at one of the library’s branches, that option is still available. Supporting your library has never been easier!
As the year wraps up, many of us are sorting through our homes and setting aside items to donate. If books are part of your clean-out, we’d love for you to bring them to the Friends of the Library Center and Bookshop. Your donated books find new life in the hands of other readers, support sustainability in our community, and help fund the library through Bookshop sales.
Thank you so much for your continued friendship. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.
With gratitude,
Salem Waters, Friends of the Library President
