Dear Friends,
Monday was the first day of fall, ushering in the season of bonfires and spooky celebrations, crunchy and colorful leaves, and more Friends of the Library fun.
We are kicking off autumn at Stafford County’s Via Colori® street art event, taking place at Stafford Regional Airport, 10:00-5:00 Saturday, September 27, and Sunday, September 28, 2025. We have sponsored a square at the two-day, family-friendly event and will be hosting a table to spread the word about our amazing library system and how the Friends support lifelong learning. We have our artists lined up, but still need volunteers to staff our table! If you can donate 2 hours of your time, please fill out the first part of this form with your availability.
Speaking of volunteers, as the Friends have grown, so has our need for more help! The second part of the form asks about your interest in different volunteer categories and if you prefer to work at a specific library location. You are under no obligation to volunteer by completing this form. When opportunities become available, we will reach out and ask if you are available; you get to choose which are best for you and your schedule.
Looking even further ahead, we are celebrating National Friends of Libraries Week in October with a book sale at the Friends of the Library Center and Bookshop. Friday, October 17, is our Friends-only preview night with bargains continuing October 18 and 20-22. Everything in the shop will be 10% off October 17-18, and 20-21. We'll have scary good deals on October 22, the last day of the sale, with everything in the store 50% off and $3.00/a bag in the warehouse. A special coupon just for Friends members that can be stacked with sale prices will be included in a later newsletter. As always, bring a friend who isn’t a member yet to the Preview night, and they can join at the door!
Thank you again for all you do for us and for the Friends of the Library!
Salem Waters, Friends of the Library President
