Dear Friends,
It is hard to believe we are already at the end of August. With so many fun happenings in our area, summer has just flown by!
Tonight marks the end of the library’s Music on the Steps summer concert series. Make sure you stop by Fredericksburg Branch at 6:30 to enjoy Afrocuban Latin Jazz fusion from local favorites Limón and the Latin Feeling Band. Their danceable sounds are a great way to close out a successful season, and we are thrilled we could sponsor such a talented group of musicians to celebrate 40 years of Music on the Steps!
Although summer has nearly ended, fun, local events continue! We are once again sponsoring a square at Via Colori® Stafford!, a two-day, family-friendly event, taking place at Stafford Regional Airport, 10:00-5:00 Saturday, September 27, and Sunday, September 28, 2025. Not only will we have artists creating our colorful square onsite, we are also hosting a table at the event to spread the word about our amazing library system and how the Friends support lifelong learning. We need volunteers to staff our table, so please reach out if you are interested. Simply let us know which date and time you would like to volunteer, and we’ll contact you with more details. We are so grateful to all of our volunteers for the time you devote to us so thank you in advance!
Looking even further ahead, we are celebrating National Friends of Libraries Week in October with a book sale. There will be a Friends-only preview night, plus, a special coupon just for Friends members (to be included in a later newsletter). As always, bring a friend who isn’t a member yet, and they can join at the door!
Thank you again for all you do for us and for the library.
Salem Waters, Friends of the Library President
