I wanted to take a moment to thank you all once again for your incredible support of the Friends of the Library. Membership Month was so successful–we collected $11,350 in new and renewed memberships, an increase of 34% over 2024’s drive! And, I loved seeing so many of you at our annual meeting on May 5. I hope you enjoyed the special performance by Laurie Rose Griffith and Peter Mealy as much as I did. I've shared a few pictures below from the event.

Membership rewards will be ordered soon, and distribution will start once the gifts are received. If you joined or renewed at the Cote Society level and chose to receive a membership reward, a form to select your shirt style and size will be emailed to you in the coming days.

If you renewed or joined online but haven’t paid your invoice yet, there is still time! All outstanding invoices that are paid by Friday, May 16 can still receive the membership reward. Log into your Friends of the Library account to check your account balance. Reach out to Planning and Development Specialist Lisa Gray with any questions or concerns.

We are looking forward to the summer ahead, including the 40th year of Music on the Steps, sponsored by the Friends of the Library! Come out and celebrate with us Mondays in June, July, and August on the steps of Fredericksburg Branch, 6:30-7:30. Elby Brass kicks off the season on June 2.

Celebrating 40 years of music! Join us for Music on the Steps, live music held on the front steps of Fredericksburg Branch on Monday nights throughout the summer. Concerts are from 6:30 to 7:30pm.

Join us June 2 for an upbeat performance by Elby Brass, Virginia's best street brass band bringing that heavy horn funk to Fredericksburg and beyond since 2009.

Note: If expecting inclement weather, the concert will be held within the Fredericksburg theater. If the performer cancels, there will be a notice on the library's website.
