Dear Friends,

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Salem Church Branch on March 13 for the Uniquely Spotsylvania art show reception. The Friends of the Library sponsors the reception, as well as the cash awards, and I was thrilled to present the awards to this year’s winners. The exhibition, which celebrates the unique Spotsylvania experience, runs through the end of April.

Speaking of April, we are counting down to the start of Membership Month on April 1! We’re kicking the month off with our spring sale, including a special Friends-only preview evening on Friday, April 4 (5:00-9:00). We have been saving all the best donations just for this occasion and will close the Friends Center and Bookshop April 1-3 and on April 4 until until 5:00 to prepare. Don’t want to shop alone? Bring a friend who isn’t a Friend, and they can join at the door! Has your membership lapsed? Don’t worry; you can renew at the door! As an added bonus, anyone who joins or renews at the sale or anytime during the month of April will earn a special membership reward to be fulfilled after Membership Month. This year, we have brand-new rewards, so April is a great month to join or renew!

Your membership and support of Friends' book sales are what allow us to sponsor library events, such as Music on the Steps and the Johnny P. Johnson Teen Art Show, as well as library staff training and development. Without you, our work would not be possible, so thank you for all you do.

On April 5 (10:00-5:00), we will have a table set up to tell folks about all the great things the Friends do at the University of Mary Washington Multicultural Fair. It is a great day of fun and music on the UMW campus and one of my favorite festivals in Fredericksburg. I will be at the table but would love some music breaks, so if you would like to volunteer to share about the Friends and come to a great festival, please send an email and let us know when you are available that day.

Finally, we will close out April and Membership Month with our Annual Meeting. This year’s meeting will be held at the Salem Church Branch on May 5, featuring a special performance from Laurie Rose Griffith and Peter Mealy. We’ll share more details about the meeting soon!

Thanks so much for all you do, Friends!
