Dear Friends,
What a wild start to the new year we’ve had with our recent winter weather. Unfortunately, a couple of our January book sale dates were canceled due to the snow, but we hope you were able to come out and find some deals at the end of last week.
Although we are midway through the month, I wanted to highlight some of our accomplishments in 2024 and thank you for your continued support of Central Rappahannock Regional Library and their mission of lifelong learning for everyone in our community. In the last year:
Friends collected more than $5,000 in donations,
grew our membership by more than 18%,
and raised over $117,000 through our book sales!
We were able to give back to the library in so many ways from sponsoring the Music on the Steps concert series to providing cash prizes for teen artists to helping with continuing education opportunities for library staff. I am so proud of all we have done and can’t wait to support the library in many more ways this year.
Speaking of 2025, there is so much to look forward to! The library has monthly book sales at Fredericksburg, Salem Church, Porter, or Howell branches. You might find a book to read for the 2025 Adult Winter Reading Challenge. Log 5 books between January 1 and March 31, and you’ll earn a cool sticker and delicious chocolate bar!
Spring will be here before you know it and, with it, our fantastic Membership Month celebration. In April 2025, we’re kicking off the fun with our Membership Month Kick-Off Book Sale and a special Friends of the Library Members-only Preview Evening with special items chosen from donations. As in years past, every renewal or new member sign-up during April will earn a thank you gift and we will close the Membership Month with our annual meeting the first week in May. Stay tuned for all of the details.
Sending warm wishes,
Salem Waters
