I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your continued support of library events this summer. Although the season is coming to an end, we have much to look forward to this fall!

Earlier this summer, Library Director Martha Hutzel announced that she will retire on September 30. You are invited to attend a ceremony honoring Martha on September 16, 4:30-6:30, in the Fredericksburg Branch Theater. Special guest Senator Tara Durant will present Martha with a resolution commemorating her nearly 40 years of service to our community.

Stafford Regional Airport

The Friends are sponsoring a square at this year’s Via Colori® Stafford! This annual street festival is a two-day, family-friendly event and will be held at the Stafford Regional Airport from 10:00 to 5:00 Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29.

We are looking for volunteers to join CRRL staff and help make our square come alive! Not an artist? Don’t worry – a design and plenty of chalk will be provided. To sign up to draw, email Community Engagement Manager Sean Bonney.

We also need volunteers to be at our table and tell folks about our awesome library! To sign up to work the table, email Friends President Salem Waters.

Mark your calendars and save the dates for the next Friends of the Library Book Sale! The fall sale will be October 21-26 and will coincide with National Friends of the Library Week. We are looking forward to seeing you at the Friends Center & Bookshop for some great deals!
