We’re changing things up with a spring meeting to highlight our Membership Month, and this is one you won’t want to miss. The meeting will be held at the Friends Center & Bookshop. In addition to a great speaker and some tasty treats, you will also be able to shop for books after the meeting. I can’t wait to see you there!

This week is National Library Week -- I hope you’ve been able to visit one of our library branches and thank an employee for all they do to provide library services and lifelong learning for everyone in our community!

Annual Meeting

Join us Monday, April 15, at 6:30, at the Friends of the Library Center & Bookshop for our Annual Meeting, featuring author Debra Freeman.

Debra Freeman is a food writer who focuses on African American culinary history. She has written on such topics as the history of American biscuits and why black-eyed peas are eaten on New Year’s and recently appeared on the Max series “Chasing Flavor”. Debra will talk about the Virginia origins of three well-known foods: mac & cheese, BBQ, and fried chicken.

In addition to learning the history of the foods, members will also have the opportunity to enjoy fried chicken, BBQ sliders, and mac & cheese cups along with fruit and vegetable platters and sweet cookie treats.

And, since it is still Membership Month, you can join or renew at the meeting and collect your membership reward on the spot!

Friends who renew or join in April can receive special membership rewards!
